Store your eyeliner horizontally or cap-down when not in use — this keeps the formula close to the tip and prevents it from drying out. Always close the cap firmly after every use. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in a hot car, as heat accelerates drying. Ideal storage is a cool, dry place such as a vanity drawer.

If you notice fibres, dried product, or makeup residue on the felt tip, gently blot the tip on a clean tissue before applying. This removes surface buildup and restores a cleaner line. Avoid pressing hard or scrubbing the tip, which can fray the felt and affect precision.

Before your first use — or if the eyeliner skips on application — remove the cap and press the tip very gently onto a tissue. If colour transfers smoothly, the tip is open and ready. If little or no colour appears, replace the cap, store horizontally for a few minutes, and test again. A persistent dry tip can indicate the formula has dried inside the barrel; in that case, the product has reached the end of its usable life.

Most liquid eyeliners last 3–6 months after opening (look for the open-jar symbol on the packaging). Once the formula no longer flows to the tip or the scent changes, it is time to replace the product. Continuing to use a dried or old eyeliner can cause patchy application and is not recommended near the eyes. Dispose of responsibly and pick up a fresh one to keep your look sharp.
